Danny, as he likes his friends to call him, was given a new PDP 11/45, a Bell Labs tape containing Unix V6, and instructed to get it working.
He must have done something right, since he has been with Unix ever since. The IT job keeps the food on the table, but it's tinkering with new hardware and programming that really makes his day. He also has a few dinosaurs on his desk to remind him of dying breeds.
