FreeBSD going IPv6 only

Would you have thought of ...?

These days the Internet community works on rolling out IPv6 to more people and for more services. Some of you may have practical knowledge with IPv6 in a dual-stack environment already, but have you tried relying on IPv6 without the legacy IP fallback on BSD?

While a lot of things work out of the box already on a dual-stack, this talk will tell you about my experience of pushing things one step further and going (almost) IPv6 only in a FreeBSD centric environment. From the user side you will see some example scenarios, configuration and operations samples, research on oddities and problem debugging, some interoperability comments and findings. This includes both user space programs and daemons, as well as kernel behavior. You will see (sometimes simple) fixes or temporary workarounds that will give you some more clues for your own debugging or might be hints for other developers.
