The Technical BSD Conference

Aaron Poffenberger

Aaron Poffenberger has been using OpenBSD since he first installed 3.3 and discovered how utterly simple installation should be. He has spent most of the past 17 years developing commercial security software for PentaSafe Security Technologies, NetIQ and now BRS Labs, Inc. From time-to-time, however, Aaron steps out of the commercial-software space to do consulting, security auditing and building the odd (legitimate) streaming media site (http://www.theanimenetwork.com/). Aaron specializes in secure-API design and implementation.

Aaron is an avid user of OpenBSD and and advocate for BSD in general. Most recently he presented two talks at the 2015 Texas Linus Fest. Aaron is often the "BSD guy" when he attends security or "geek" functions in Houston.

Aaron (KG5DQJ) is also an amateur-radio licensee. He earned his first license many years ago when CW (Morse Code) was still a requirement. He earned his current license two years ago. He's interested in all radio modes in general but digital modes and SDR in particular. He's currently porting several SDR-related packages to OpenBSD.

At BRS Labs Aaron leads development of Enterprise Products, the API and SDK. He spends most of his day happily writing Haskell.
